Ormond Estates Entrance from River Road and Mississippi River Levee

When you think about Destrehan Real Estate, you often think of Ormond, which is the areas largest collection of subdivisions. Ormond Estates is one of the original subdivisions on the East Bank of St. Charles Parish in Destrehan, La. Ormond Country Club Estates was one of the first golf course communities. There are the original acre lots that are between the River Road and the railroad tracks. Once you cross the railroad tracts the main subdivision of golf coarse lots are on the left. These are larger lots with many of the homes backing up to the golf course. The houses are larger and of course more expensive. The homes on the right are smaller, ranging in size from 1700 to 2400 sq. ft.
I will give a quick review of the different areas that are associated with Ormond along with ages, lot sizes, and sizes. I will stay away from prices as they tend to change.

| The Homes in Ormond on the non-golf course side of Ormond Blvd are generally on smaller lots and with smaller homes. There are large homes on Ormond Blvd but behind these they bcome smaller. The average home is roughly 2000 sq. ft. and is around 20 years old. Many have been updated and remodeled over the past 20 years. Most of these were built by the origional owners or small contractors when the subdivision was new. Most will have fenced yards and at least a one car garage,but most have two car garages. Brick ranches and acadians are the main type of construction. Brick is more expensive but does better in our tropical climates. Most of the lots are 70' fronts. | |
