Harahan Real Estate- Harahan is a small city that is primarily a residential area between Elmwood Industrial Park and the Mississippi River. Most of the homes will be older with the exception of the higher price ranges. Harahan is about 10,000 residents with its own mayor, police chief and city council. The location makes it an easy commute to Uptown New Orleans, Downtown, and the New Orleans Airport which are 20 minutes away. The are is known for its high ground and the amount of trees that dot the neighborhoods.
You will find a brief outline of the major subdivisions below but there are many other areas that were here before subdivisions become popular. Almost all the homes are custom built homes with no builder developments. You will find a range of very good public and private schools in the area. The tax rates are very low, crime is very very low, and many people have lived in the area for years thus having much less turnover than other areas of town. |

| Imperial Woods is between Jefferson Highway and the River Road and the Mississippi River. It is an area that was developed in the late 1970s that was formally a farm and features larger homes ranging in size from 2000 sq. ft. to over 400 sq. ft for the newer homes in the area. The homes have maintained their value and is the place to be in Harahan. The River Levee provides a riding path to jog or ride you bike a long ways. Tree shaded streets and well manicured lawns are a staple of this area. You can walk to St. Rita school and its a short ride to Colonial Golf and Country Club. | |

| The older section of Imperial Woods is going to have homes built around 1960-1970 with an average size of 1700 to 2200 sq.ft. with very few garages but many of the homes do have carports. You will find many homes that have been updated and some that look like they do 40 years ago. This is a demand area so whatever you do to a home it tends to keep its value. |

| Harahan Oaks subdivision was started in 1975 and was the first and only walled in community of any size in the city of Harahan. The area is off Colonial Club Drive in a very convenient location. The homes range in size from 2000 sq. ft. to 3500 sq. ft. with most the homes being at least 25 years plus in age. Most have garages and have maintained their value. There is very little turnover in this neighborhood and homes that are priced correctly sell quickly. The convenient location and family atmosphere has made this a popular place to be. |

Hickory Ridge Estates A new subdivision only about 2 years old off Hickory Ave in Harahan. All the houses are new and most likely built by the woners who bought their own lots as the subdivision was being developed. The house are going to vay in size and value because of this. Land is hard to come by because this land is adjacent to the Elmwood Business park with various warehouses and businesses in the background. There may also be a new Wal-Mart built across the way. |
